8 Instagram Posing Ideas For The Hopelessly Camera-Shy!

Even though everyone enjoys sharing photos on Instagram, finding the perfect pose is not always simple. This is particularly true if you don’t like having your picture taken in public; or you feel that you’re never a photogenic person.

For those who are camera-averse or simply don’t want their faces to be in the spotlight, it’s always hard to strike a pose that gives them the perfect picture. But not to worry, because we’ve listed a few poses that are ideal for shy and awkward peeps when having their photos taken. We bet these postures not only scream Instagram, but are also terrific opportunities to try out different perspectives and props.

Showcase Your Back

This is the easiest pose, and something even the shiest person would feel comfortable doing. The best thing about it is you don’t have to worry about facial expressions. Find stunning scenery in the background because this position works best when there is something lovely to look at. Showing your back is great, but it won’t give that “wow” effect if there’s nothing remarkable about your background.

Block Your Face With Your Phone

This pose is perfect for taking selfies in front of a mirror. But do make sure the mirror is spotless and the background is what you want other people to see before taking the picture (don’t go showing off your messy rooms and dirty lingerie). To add some flair to your images, switch your old, boring phone casing to something attractive and eye-catching.

Focus On Your Outfit Or Other Object

If you’re donning your best OOTD, that’s great! It’s common to pose for selfies – but only a brave few would take a close-up picture of their outfits. So, if you’re a shy person with a great outfit, why not focus on your outfit instead of your face? It’s easy and less awkward. All you have to do is position yourself in any way that highlights your outfit and keep snapping till you find the perfect picture! You can also focus on the object you’re holding, like your coffee mug.

Face The Side

So you’re finally feeling secure about how your face looks, and you kinda don’t mind being photographed. The only problem is that you’re still shy. In this case, the best pose to strike is the sideways glance. Instead of looking at the camera, turn your face 90° to the left or right. To make it easy, pose while sipping a cup of coffee, reading a book, or pretending to look at someone. Or you could simply rest your face in one of your hands.

Face Downwards

If you can’t nail this, we have no idea what to say. Without having to fully face the camera, just look down and simply smile. This pose adds a sweet and youthful feel to your picture. Also, it’s a good idea to have as a backup in case other poses goes wrong.

Look Away

Shy people have a really hard time looking at the camera – but they love to look around at everything else (so not focused!). Which brings us to this easy pose. It’s simple to look away from the camera if you appear interested in something. It’s more natural and you get to do what you’ve always been doing – looking away from the camera! And the picture will appear candid, and snapped in the moment.

Walk Away

You can fake it or do it for real. If you don’t feel at ease posing in front of the camera, the simple thing to do is walk. To get the ideal shot, set your camera or phone to burst mode. Burst mode allows you to capture multiple shots when there’s movement. Later on, you can view and choose the ones you find attractive. If you’re gonna fake a walk, take one or two steps forward and circle the same area.

Use Accessories

Similar to the mirror selfie, you can use other props to keep the shyness at bay. Grab a book, an umbrella, or any other relevant object and interact with it organically. Pretend you’re inhaling the scent of a lovely bouquet. Wear a cap. Anything that will demonstrate action is preferable. This will make you look natural and at ease.
