Most of us tend to live out our lives in good faith. But, as we all know, misfortune can strike anytime, anywhere. Unfortunately for Malaysian radio DJ Yoon (吳家家), misfortune came in the form of her losing an entire car!
Earlier this month, radio DJ Yoon got a new car, much to her delight. However, bad luck struck within a few days of her buying it. On 6th March, her car got stolen in broad daylight!
“This is a real story of a new car being stolen in 78 hours,” Yoon shared on her Facebook, adding she suspect foul play due to how quickly the car was stolen. Yoon explained the car had been left parked outside a busy store in PJ Section 17. Her husband had apparently parked the car there around 12pm to 1pm to go to a restaurant for lunch.
However, when they left the restaurant, they were shocked to realise their car had vanished. “(We) immediately asked the restaurant to check (their) CCTV (footage),” Yoon stated. “The footage showed a man in black approaching my white SUV. It only took a minute or two for the car thief to drive the car away like he owned it!”
Yoon lamented that they had been planning to install an anti-theft lock and a GPS system this week. Unfortunately, it was too late. “(The) police officer said that SUVs frequently get stolen,” she sighed, added that police were investigating the matter. Yoon also warned others to be more cautious with their cars.
Netizens shared Yoon’s view after watching the video. Several commented he was either very skilled, or had been helped ‘from the inside’. “How do you feel about the thief having the key to your car?” one asked. “It’s (scary how he’s) driving your car in broad daylight,” another said. Additionally, others offered to help Yoon track down her car.
However, some netizens have not been as sympathetic. A few reportedly suspected it was a ‘prank’ from Yoon. Others claimed it was fine because “she has more money”. Yoon herself responded to such comments with: “Those who make trouble in others’ posts and see other people’s misfortune as a joke~ (Hope) you are healthy and safe~”
Well, losing a brand new car is certainly a blow to Yoon. We too hope she will be able to find and regain her car. If not, at the very least, we sincerely hope the thief will be brought to justice.
