In case you missed it, yesterday (Wednesday, 9th March) was International Women’s Day. Although we should celebrate the women in our lives every single day, yesterday was a particularly special day for women to feel special and appreciated.
If you look through social media, you can see almost everyone celebrating the annual occasion in their own unique way. Dato Lee Chong Wei (李宗伟) certainly showed his love and appreciation for the love of his life and we can’t help but get a little teary-eyed as well when we saw this video.

For this year’s International Women’s Day, the former badminton player was seen crying when her husband gave a sentimental speech during the official unveiling of his wax figure for Madame Tussauds Hong Kong earlier this week. According to the caption, things got emotional when the 40-year-old talked about the lowest point in his career.
“I saw this video, and I instantly crumbled and cried. What else do I need in life when I have this girl?” he wrote. The father-of-three showed his love and appreciation for his wife by thanking her saying, “I’m just the luckiest guy in the world. Love you ten thousand years.” The former athlete ended the heartwarming post by wishing everyone a Happy International Women’s Day and thanking his son Terrance for comforting his mother.
Fellow athletes, local celebrities, and fans were possibly just as emotional after seeing the video as many of them commented that the couple was very lucky to have each other through thick and thin. Some said that Wong Mew Choo is also blessed to have such a loving husband who acknowledges and supports her. There were also those who applaud the son for comforting his emotional mother.

For your information, Dato Lee Chong Wei and Datin Wong Mew Choo tied the knot back in 2012 and the two were blessed with 3 sons; Kingston, Terrance, and Anson. While International Women’s Day ended yesterday, the celebration will never end so take time to appreciate the most important women in your life.
Happy Belated International Women’s Day everyone!
