We often see certain local influencers who enjoy flaunting their wealth to the world, which can sometimes rub people the wrong way. We do acknowledge that some just want to share their happiness but there always those who are just looking for attention. Regardless, it’s hard to deny the fact many want their fame and fortune.
There is always an ongoing debate when the topic of influencers’ income gets brought up. What are the secrets to their success? Where do the money come from? Gatita Yan (Tong Lee Yan) recently shared how she went from earning only RM1.5k to millions.

Over the weekend, local influencer Gatita Yan did a Q&A session on Instagram Stories where she answered some of her follower’s questions. One netizen asked the public figure about how she hit her first pot of gold. She answered by saying that many people have made the mistake of setting unrealistic goals for themselves that eventually overwhelm them.
“When you can’t reach the figure you have in mind despite your hard work, you’ll give up after you get tired,” she said in the IG story. The internet celeb then revealed that she first started aiming for a smaller goal of RM100k before she eventually and finally struck gold. It was only after the content creator reached the first goal did she start to aim higher. “From 500k and all the way to millions,” she told her followers.

According to the influencer in the now-expired IG stories, aiming for a more realistic goal was only part of her success. She listed down other things that have helped her get to where she is today: A change in mindset, social circle, bravery, and perseverance. The most important mindset that one must consider? Not caring what others say. “If you care a lot, you really have to eliminate this bad habit,” the 30-year-old explained.

This may come as a surprise to some but Gatita actually worked at a phone shop for almost a decade where she only earned RM1.5k a month. Like most people, she decided to turn her life around and work hard in order to earn the millions of Ringgit she has today. If you’ve been following her, you’ll know that she did OnlyFans before venturing into DJ-ing.
She ended the Q&A by encouraging her followers to follow their dreams and do whatever it takes to achieve their goals.
