For most of us, a security guard’s job is to keep threats from entering our area. As such, we often expect them to be aware and vigilant of their surroundings. Luckily for a local family, their security guard’s alertness saved their child from being kidnapped!
A local woman had left her son alone with her house helper at home when she was sending her daughter to school. Unbeknownst to her, her maid was apparently planning on leaving with her son! However, thanks to their watchful security guard, the maid’s attempts were thwarted.

The incident had reportedly taken place at an apartment in Segambut, around 12pm on Friday (17th February). At that time, a 35-year-old Nepalese man had been on duty at the guard house. He noted a black Toyota SUV attempting to visit the complex. The two people in the car then informed him that they were visiting an apartment unit.
As per protocol, he contacted the owner of the unit to ask if they were expecting visitors. The owner allegedly informed him that they were not. The guard then asked them to leave. However, to his surprise, the car drove straight to the lobby instead. The guard immediately approached the SUV and requested they leave immediately.
The guard noted that although the car had left the premises, they had not gone far. “(The driver) parked the SUV outside the apartment,” he later told China Press. “It looked like they were waiting for someone.” Feeling concerned about the situation, he informed the apartment’s management and they then went to check on the unit. Unexpectedly, they found the maid inside with a suitcase, apparently waiting for an opportunity to leave.

The guard had not been the only one instrumental in stopping the ploy. Two of his colleagues had also helped during the situation. As such, a representative from their security company, Expoam Security Services, will allegedly be rewarding them. Expoam Security Services’ senior operations manager also commended the trio, praising their dedication and attention to detail.
Sentul district police chief Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai has confirmed that they did receive a report on the case. They have also apprehended the maid involved. But, as the child did not actually leave the house, nor did the maid confess to the allegation, the incident cannot be constituted as a kidnapping case. However, the police are reportedly still conducting an in-depth investigation into the matter.

Well, kudos to the guard and his colleagues for their vigilance! It’s certainly reassuring to know that they are doing their job and doing it well. It makes it easier for one to sleep at night, knowing they are doing their best to keep watch over the area!
