You Don’t Know Them Now, But These 4 Local Artistes Are Destined To SLAYYY!

We Malaysians don’t give ourselves enough credit for the amount of talent we posses; maybe it’s the Asian in us telling ourselves we’re not good enough – but we’re actually an extremely talented bunch. From cooking only the tastiest cuisines to all the beautiful architecture you can find in heritage areas, our art is everywhere!

But let’s focus on music, since there are simply TOO MANY local artistes you’re unaware of – and we’re here to change that. We’ve gathered a few underrated Malaysian vocalists/musicians for you to listen to in the hope that *fingers crossed* you’ll like them just as much as we do, and start supporting them!

So without further ado, here are 4 local artistes you need to start listening to:

Joogi

Yes, his music is as cool as his name. Serving only the best lines with fresh beats and an amazing flow, Joogi creates the kind of music you can listen to at any time of the day and still get hyped up. It’s the type of music you and your friends can all bop and sing along to when you’re vibing and having fun together. Basically, what we’re trying to say is that he makes GOOD A** MUSIC! And he’s going to be releasing even more…

Yup, you read that right! You can definitely expect some new music from him VERY SOON *wink wink*

Be sure to check out his music on Spotify or Apple Music and follow him on Instagram to stay updated!

Apriltwentyfifth

It was love at first listen when we stumbled upon ‘uncooked brownies’ in 2021, when it first came out, and we still can’t stop talking about how good it is! Apriltwentyfifth just does that to you, delivering the catchiest songs that will have you hooked forever.

Just listen to ‘uncooked brownies’ and ‘mosquitoes in my room’ – however, we are not to be held accountable if you end up listening to it 24/7.

Mohsein Kush

There’s just something about Mohsein Kush’s dulcet voice that can make you feel like you’re floating when you listen to him. Just perfect for your late night drives or at-home days when you just want to relax – it’s the type of music that feels oddly healing? But of course, he does have music that’s a tad bit more upbeat, like ‘All Night’ and ‘Hilang’. Yes, he sings in Malay too!

And if you’re into Keshi or Giveon, then you’re definitely gonna LOVE Mohsein Kush’s music.

Be sure to check out more of his music on Spotify and follow him on Instagram!

AXIZ

Another one for the rap and hip hop enthusiasts: AXIZ, who began his journey as a rapper at a young age, started freestyling whilst he was in high school and later on, moved to the underground rap scene. He then shared his first video on Instagram in 2019 and has made it a long way since, with music videos out as well!

He’s heavy on lyricism and reminds us of rappers like Kodak Black – so if you’re into that type of rhythm then you should definitely give him a listen!

Be sure to check out more of his music on YouTube and follow him on Instagram!
