Yesterday (15th February), it was revealed that Taiwanese artist Liu Wen-cheng (刘文正) aka Steven Liu had passed away. According to his friend and agent, Hsia Yu-shun (夏玉顺), Wen-cheng took his last breath on the cusp of turning 70 in his place in LA.
Wen-cheng had reportedly passed away on 15th November last year. His cause of death was cited as a myocardial infarction; that is, a heart attack. However, Wen-cheng could allegedly have been saved!

Wen-chang had left showbiz at the peak of his career, only to return to establish a production company in 1986. Five years later, Wen-cheng retired to LA to live with his mother. He spent 31 years in the US, looking after his mother and living out his life.
Yu-shun claimed that as far as he knew, Wen-cheng had been in good physical health for the last two years of his life. The singer had reportedly been keeping up his hobbies of going mountain climbing and swimming. Unfortunately, there was no indication that he was vulnerable to a heart attack.
According to a video shared by TVBS “Health 2.0” anchor Zheng Kaiyun (郑凯云), a myocardial infarction victim requires medical help within the first 90 minutes. However, as Wen-cheng had reportedly been by himself on the day of his passing, he was not able to get help in time. He was allegedly discovered the next morning by his sister. Although they attempted emergency medical treatment then, it was to no avail.

His agent, Yu-shun explained he had only discovered the news in December. At that time, he had supposedly been having trouble sleeping. As such, he contacted Wen-cheng’s family, only to discover Wen-cheng had passed. But, a few relatives and friends of Wen-cheng are allegedly insiting that the singer is still alive.

However, Yu-shun has denied all claims. “It has been confirmed that Wen-cheng has really passed away. If not, please ask (those sources) to speak out,” he reportedly said. The agent explained the last time he met Wen-cheng was in October 2022. The singer had still been in good health then. Wen-cheng’s brother-in-law has also reportedly confirmed his passing.

Wen-cheng’s funeral was reportedly carried out quietly by his sister. Fans and friends of the artist have been mourning his passing since the news came out. It is clear that he is still dearly missed, despite removing himself from the entertainment scene all those years ago.
Update (16th February; 2:00pm):
Agent Hsia Yu-shun now claims Liu Wen-cheng has not passed away. According to the agent, Wen-cheng asked Yu-shun to help the singer fake his death. Apparently, he had recently been asked to return and perform for 2.6 billion Taiwan dollars (~RM380 million). Yu-shun confirmed that Wen-cheng did suffer from myocardial infarction but has recovered since. Additionally, Yu-shun supposedly made it clear on the singer’s behalf that he will not be returning, ever.
