To say Netflix and Riot’s Arcane series was a major success is a massive understatement. The story was loved by longtime fans and newcomers alike, so much so that a second season was immediately announced after only a few weeks of its premiere. Though it took years to make, people were still excited to see how Jinx, Vi, and everyone else’s stories would pan out. The release was scheduled for mid-2023, and we couldn’t wait for its release.
Now that the time is almost upon us, let’s talk about some theories and what to expect in the second season of Arcane. Spoilers ahead.

War Is Coming
At the end of the first season, we saw Jinx launch a missile straight into the Piltover Council while voting for Zaun’s independence. Most of the council members may die; the most likely casualties are Caitlyn’s mother, Cassandra, and Jayce’s partner, Mel. With their deaths, Jayce may go against the idea of leaving Zaun alone and may even declare open war, while Caitlyn will have more motivation to capture Jinx. Vi will be caught in the middle, torn between saving her Jinx from herself or killing or arresting her to bring peace to the two city-states.
The power vacuum and war may invite a third party into the mix, Noxus. It was established halfway through season 1 that Noxus had planted a sleeper agent in Piltover to make its takeover easier in the form of Mel. With a civil war on the horizon, Noxus might come out of the shadows and may kill two birds with one stone.
Canon Or Cannon? The Destroyer Of Ships

The shipping gods are fickle creatures. Arcane’s greatest strength is how they weave characters’ stories together, making every death and breakup all the more visceral and realistic. Their skill at storytelling is simply incredible. This aspect is what drew many people to the characters, prompting a large portion of that demographic to begin shipping the cast with one another. The question is: Will we see it play out in the second season?
Many people have already shipped Vi and Caitlyn since they were revealed to be police partners in the game, but are they partners? We don’t really know, as the game has been vague itself and has never confirmed it after all this time. Hopefully, when season two rolls around, we can finally have that confirmation.
The Big Bad Wolf (And Other Characters) Are Coming
One thing that has been confirmed and even teased throughout the runtime of season 1 is the arrival of the mutated wolf himself: Warwick. His appearance was already confirmed at the season two announcement, where Warwick’s iconic howl and unique theme song can be heard. Many have already speculated that Warwick is Vander, as his story lines up with Warwick’s in game lore. Additionally, Vander has received several nicknames, all of which are references to dogs (The Hound of the Underground and Lapdog).
His arrival will mark a total shift in the story, as we may see many more characters make their way into the show, such as an hextech Viktor, a time-reversing Ekko, and many more. We can’t wait to see it all unfold later in 2023.
