Showing your partner how much you adore and care for them is crucial in making sure that the love between you grows. That’s where your “love language” comes in. Say what? A “love language” is particular to each person, and describes the style in which you prefer to receive or give love. It’s a popular topic in the dating scene, as it can help navigate the ways to make a partner happy.

A love language comes in five different forms – words of affirmation, quality time, physical touch, receiving gifts and acts of service. One of these forms may be more meaningful to you than the others. There are various quizzes available online to help you determine what your love language is.

However, if you already have an idea of what your love language is, you may be interested in learning more about it and what it reveals about yourself.

Words Of Affirmation

It’s no secret that people love continuous reassurance from their partners. However, to you who’s love language is words of affirmation, it means more than that. It’s showering you in a rain of reassurance. Words of affirmation are comforting to you, and you know that your partner truly adores you.

Quality Time

Every couple should make an effort to spend quality time together. However, if your love language is quality time, it means you want to be the centre of your partner’s attention. Quality time to you means that THAT is when you feel the most loved. You want their time, energy and focus to be directly towards you – and that precious one-on-one time means more to you than anything else.

Physical Touch

If physical touch is your love language, it suggests that physical gestures are important to you. However, this does not imply that those actions must be intimate in nature – such as kissing, hugging, or cuddling. It may be as light as holding hands or touching one’s back. Your love is expressed through your partner’s physical contact, which produces a strong sense of emotional intimacy.

Acts Of Service

As the old saying goes: “Actions speak louder than words”, and acts of service do more for you than verbal compliments would. You appreciate and adore the things that your partner does for you, especially in times of need. These moments are crucial for you to know how much you mean to your partner, and the greater lengths they go to please you, the more reassured you are. Acts of service that are meaningful could be the smallest things your partner does to help brighten your day.

Receiving Gifts

Last, but not least, receiving gifts may appear superficial to some, yet this love language is sometimes misunderstood. The gifts do not have to be expensive – they can be as simple as a shell found on a beach. Presents, no matter how big or tiny, expensive or cheap, mean the world to you and carry the message that your partner is continuously thinking about you. If receiving gifts is your love language, you want your partner to think of you and let you know how much you’re loved.
