Chinese New Year is quickly approaching, and you probably have many interesting activities planned to commemorate the occasion. Whether you’re keen on a trip back to your hometown this weekend, or staying in the Klang Valley to celebrate the Lunar New Year, there’s no right or wrong way to do it!
In case some of you are intending to stick around for the festivities, here are some fun things to do to fill up your week!
1. IOI Malls’ CNY Blooming Spring

2. A Blooming Garden of Happiness

Location: Sunway Pyramid
Sunway Pyramid is celebrating the most auspicious time of the year with its very own “garden of abundance and prosperity” to reflect its Chinese New Year campaign theme of ‘Blooming Happiness’. To welcome the Year of the Rabbit, the mall is offering a wide array of special rewards and activities for everyone enjoy.
Sunway Pyramid will also feature a garden evocative of a lovely spring day at its LG2 Orange concourse, which will be decorated with overflowing flowers from a flower market by Fleurs; and cherry blossoms that symbolise luck and happiness. The mall’s wide range of eateries is also welcoming families and friends for reunion dinners with a host of special promotions.
3. Jump 兔 (to) A Prosperex CNY
Date: 14th – 6th February
Location: REXKL
Arts and culture aficionados are in for a feast, as REXKL hosts Jump (to) A Prosperex CNY, which is proudly backed by Carlsberg Malaysia, one of the top brewers in the world. In addition to the setup, REXKL has a plethora of activities in store for you. There’s so much you can do at REXKL leading up to the auspicious holiday – from observing our local singers and grooveheads at POP-UP (Tù)NES, to catching two specially-selected LION DANCE PERFORMANCES by Petaling Street Cultural Community Centre (PSCC) and Yi Meng Lion Art.
4. Carlsberg’s Prosperity Burrow
Date: Now to 17th January
Location: Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and Sunway Carnival Mall, Penang
Carlsberg’s annual Chinese New Year event, themed Brewing Prosperity Together, returns to ring in the Year of the Rabbit in dramatic fashion. Carlsberg is launching its artist edition Carlsberg Danish Pilsner and Carlsberg Smooth Draught cans this year, with the phrases ‘prosperity’ and ‘smoothness’ for the coming year. Carlsberg intends to bring to life the CNY Prosperity Burrow spring paradise, which showcases the spirit and traditions of Chinese culture and presents all the greatest parts of CNY not only in Kuala Lumpur, but also Penang.

1. Pandora Pop-Up Booth at Gurney Plaza, Penang
Date: Now to 23rd January
Location: Gurney Plaza, Penang
Pandora celebrates the thrill of Chinese New Year in one of Penang’s most famous malls, Gurney Plaza, to honour the launch of its newest collections in 2023. A pop-up shop has opened near the entrance to the centre court for customers to peruse the new collection and other Pandora staples.
Aside from its Chinese New Year collection, Pandora Malaysia is also showcasing its Valentine’s collection, which has new themes and love shapes that are already giving couples butterflies in anticipation of the the big romantic holiday.
