Dr. Amalina Che’ Bakri was back on the scene recently, with another Q&A session with her followers on Instagram Story.
Similar to her previous sessions, the Malaysian physician, who’s now residing in the UK, responded to several health-related questions from the public. One netizen posted a question to Dr. Amalina about female circumcision.

“Do they provide circumcision service for female babies at the country?” the netizen enquired. Dr. Amalina then responded, “No, it is illegal in the UK!” Another individual also asked on whether the procedure is allowed for males, to which she replied, “Yes, it is (allowed). Male circumcision can be done in hospitals.”
Nonetheless, this has in turn sparked a heated debate among local netizens. Following that, Dr. Amalina once again took to her socials to issue her response to the backlash. According to her. “khitan” (circumcision) for female babies is categorised as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) or Female Genital Cutting (FGC) in the UK.
She added, “There are various opinions regarding the ‘khitan’ procedure according to the fatwa and the respective countries. If you’re still not satisfied, you can ask the ‘imam’ in the UK yourself. If you still have doubts, just abide to the opinion of the mufti (Muslim legal expert) at your own country. There’s no need to denounce the Muslim community in other countries.”

Despite her outstanding achievements, Dr. Amalina has not been spared from nosy nitpickers on social media. She previously left a scathing remark to a netizen who asked about the status of her White husband’s religion. Read what she said here.
