Three individuals, including a child, had suffered injuries after falling from a malfunctioning fun fair ride at Eco Grandeur, Puncak Alam, Selangor. According to reports, the scary incident took place last night (Monday, 12th December).
Kuala Selangor district police chief, Supt Ramli Kasa, revealed that his team had rushed to the scene upon receiving a phone call in regard to the incident at about 8:50 pm. According to him, the victims comprised two women and a child.
“The three of them fell while the ride known as ‘Sotong Ride’ was in motion. The victims were taken to the Shah Alam Hospital in an ambulance,” the police official stated. Furthermore, the case would be investigated according to Section 6 of the Selangor State Entertainment & Places of Entertainment Enactment 1995 for operating without a licence.
Earlier, several viral videos and photos on social media showed the ride apparently losing control, which caused the victims to fall. Netizens have since taken to the comments section to express their concerns. “That’s scary. That’s why I don’t like going to fun fairs,” one netizen said.
Another one argued, “Avoid amusement rides or similar activities at the fun fair. The structural integrity of the rides is uncertain. As a C&S Engineer, I doubt that they have had a thorough inspection by a professional. Unlike in the theme park, proper design/inspection and routine maintenance are required.”

The elder brother to two of the victims took to TikTok to share the latest update of his family members following the incident. The TikToker, known as Saiful Azif, shared a video of his younger brother being taken by the ambulance to the hospital. “My brother is a fighter,” he captioned his post.
Additionally, Saiful Azif also shared some photos showing the shocking state of the aforementioned ‘Sotong Ride’ seats. As seen in the pics, the fun fair ride does not have a proper lock ride security feature. The metal surface also appeared looking rusty and worn-out, while the barrier was only tied using a red rope.
