Following last weekend’s 15th General Election (GE15), Malaysians are anxiously waiting to see who will emerge as Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister. Despite the deadline given by the Agong, our political leaders from opposing parties are at odds with one another.
While there were some shocking results from GE15 (like Nurul Izzah’s loss), others like MUDA’s president Syed Saddiq managed to get the most votes in Muar, Johor. However, the political leader was not the only one that caught everyone’s attention. All eyes were apparently on his bodyguard as well. Here’s why:

Prior to the voting day, former Minister of Youth Syed Saddiq was obviously campaigning to encourage everyone to vote for his political party MUDA. Throughout his campaign, fans of the political leader showed nothing but love for him. Having said that, there was another person that caught people’s eyes. During his campaigns, the 29-year-old was spotted with a very muscular man who is said to be his personal bodyguard.
Photos and videos of the man have been circulating on social media and netizens apparently can’t get enough of him. The video above was posted by @zulkapan14 on TikTok which managed to gain 1 million views and 34k likes. “As the people of Besut say, ‘I’ve been blessed’,” he captioned the video. Netizens commented on the video, with many apparently thirsting over the bodyguard.
If that wasn’t enough, a photo on Twitter posted by @danielhvqeem also went viral with 1.2k quote tweets and 1.7k retweets. Just like on TikTok, netizens were swooning over the muscular man with many wanting to know more about him. But just who is this man? What does he actually do for a living? Most importantly, how does he feel about all this attention he’s been getting?
Syed Saddiq’s ‘bodyguard’ goes by Farhan Iqbal, who is actually the politician’s press secretary. He’s also been tasked to ensure the MUDA leader’s safety which led many to believe he is his personal bodyguard. “I discovered I went viral after some friends showed me some videos. I was surprised. I honestly did not expect this,” he told mStar.
The 30-year-old also responded to netizens who said he shares a resemblance to actor Syamsul Yusof. “I’m flattered. Honestly, I was not expecting this. Thank you all for the kind comments,” he said. Other than being a press secretary and ‘bodyguard’, Farhan is also an experienced photographer who documents current affairs and social issues in Malaysia. Sorry ladies, the man is also taken.
