At one point in most kids’ life, they’d dream of being a Power Ranger. The superhero group, based on the Japanese series tokusatsu franchise “Super Sentai”, has inspired many to stand up for what’s right and stop evildoers from causing chaos.
Popular for their amazing gadgets and primary colour uniforms, the Power Rangers will forever be a part of our childhood. Sadly, we regret to say that we now have to say goodbye to one Ranger, actor Jason David Frank who recently passed away. Here’s what happened:

It’s been reported that Jason David Frank passed away earlier this morning (Monday, 21st November) in Texas. He was 49 years old. In a statement released by the actor’s manager, Justine Hunt, “Please respect the privacy of his family and friends during this horrible time as we come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful human being. He loved his family, friends, and fans very much. He will truly be missed.”
The martial artist’s manager, however, did not mention the cause of death nor the exact time and date of his passing. It is also still unknown whether the former Power Ranger died in his home or in another location. As of right now, there is no current update on the actor’s sudden passing. According to TMZ, the “Power Ranger” star died of suicide but this is yet to be officially confirmed by a representative.
Jason played the role of Tommy Oliver, the Green Ranger in the original “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” series back in 1993. His character was originally meant to be temporary but was brought back on the show after being a fan favourite and continued to play the White Ranger, the new leader of the team. Fans of the franchise as well as fellow Rangers offered their condolences and posted messages dedicated to the original Green Ranger.

Other than the original series, Jason has also made a cameo as Tommy in the 2017 “Power Rangers” reboot movie as well as in “Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel” for the franchise’s 25th anniversary in 2018. The actor officially retired from the franchise in 2022. Rest in peace Jason and may the Power protect you.
