In Malaysia, there are numerous abandoned buildings with stories of their own. From luxury resorts to theme parks, many of these old and mysterious buildings leave us wondering what actually happened to them.
This luxury condominium in Skudai, Johor Bahru was once called the Wangsa Putri condominium and has been abandoned for over 20 years now. It was the first condominium in Johor Bahru to be built but was also the first to collapse and become abandoned.

The Wangsa Putri condominiums were one of the very first residential condominiums in Johor Bahru. Back in the 1980s, residential condominium buildings were still a rare sight in Johor. This was because most housing developers prefered single or double-storied houses rather than high-rise condominiums.
In the TikTok video by Mohd John, he explained that the place was abandoned due to many safety reasons. But the social media user was left wondering why the building was not torn down even after so long.

He even added that back then, there was an attempted suicide case on the roof of the condominium. There was also speculation that the condominium was home to factory workers after it was abandoned. Reading netizens’ comments, many shared their theories and own stories.
One person, seeing things from a logical perspective, said that the development structure was unsafe and so the city council had asked them to leave. One woman said she used to stay there 20 years ago, adding that she liked it. Another said that the place has a story of its own that’s hard to explain.

What is the true story behind this abandonment? And why hasn’t it been demolished after 20 long years? That is the question…
