A pair of conjoined twin sisters from Mexico made headlines this week after they spoke about how one of them met the love of their life. It all started after a video featuring them on a YouTube show went viral recently.
The sisters, Carmen, and Lupita Andrade appeared on an “Ask Us Anything” show on the YouTube channel Jubilee, where they responded to some questions regarding their extraordinary lives. The video was initially released earlier in April before it resurfaced recently.
The conjoined twins shared that they are attached along their chest walls down to their pelvis. Both of them have two arms, but only a single leg each, with Carmen controlling the right leg, and Lupita managing the left. Apparently, the twins were only expected to survive for three days after they were born in 2002. They were informed that if they underwent surgery for separation, it could result in their death or years of intensive care.
As a result, they opted to stay together and have since adapted to living life with one another. Despite sharing almost everything with her twin sister, that hasn’t stopped Carmen from seeking a romantic partner. During the session, she revealed that she had been dating her beau (known as Daniel) for about “a year and a half”. On the other hand, Lupita professed that she’s “asexual and aromantic”.
“We met off of Hinge (dating app). (I’m) not going to lie, it was really awkward (to reveal that I was a conjoined twin on my profile). I was obviously going to be transparent about everything. It was a learning process for everybody. We obviously had to have a discussion on what boundaries are okay and what aren’t. And we’re not intimate in that way (sexually), and he’s okay with that,” Carmen said.
When asked if her sister was a good wing woman, Carmen said, “No. She likes to make fun of everyone,” to which Lupita chimed in, “I make fun of both of them.” At the same time, the twins were also asked on whether they consider getting married one day. According to Carmen, “(Marriage) is not really in the front nor back of my mind at the moment. We are still 21.” She also said that she’d prefer life partners to actual marriage.
