When it comes to dating, most prefer to avoid having a long-distance relationship. After all, it can be difficult to maintain and it seems as though you’re usually missing your other half. However, love can persist and it certainly did for Astro’s news anchor, Irene Sua (蔡心惠)!
Irene has been dating someone from the navy for a few years now. Unfortunately, his job tended to keep him grounded halfway around the world, and away from her. Well, regardless of the distance between them, they remained closer than ever. In fact, Irene recently announced that she was officially married to him!
Earlier in June this year, Irene shared that her navy boyfriend had actually proposed to her in May. “He flew me 15,000km and halfway across the world, showed me his alma mater, brought me to my very first air show experience seeing the Blue Angel, then he popped the question in front of Memorial Hall later that night,” she shared while flashing the ring on her finger. “How can I say no to this package? ❤️ YES!”
Well, fast forward to a few months and that proposal became official on 3rd November. “Got promoted to Mrs Chan on my birthday. Officially a Navy wife now,” Irene announced on Saturday (5th November). She also included pics of her and her new husband standing side by side and looking very much in love.
Irene later added in Mandarin that her marriage had been a little rushed. “(My) once-in-a-lifetime event unexpectedly collided with the national election (which happens) every five years. I could only bite the bullet and get married on my birthday (as my schedule is full),” she explained.
“The result was… my clothes were ironed (that) morning, my shoes were (from) many years ago, and the bouquet was borrowed from the makeup artist,” she shared. “As for the wedding ring? (It was) too late to buy (one), (so) I temporarily wore the engagement ring.” Still, her circumstances did not affect her happy day at all. However, Irene did jokingly add that she would now go back to focusing on the election.
Friends, fans, and family have congratulated Irene on her marriage, with many wishing the newlywed couple well. We too would like to offer our congratulations to Irene and her new husband! We sincerely hope they live a long and happy life together!
