To fully enjoy a vacation, it is crucial for tourists to go and check out all the top historical sites. But before visiting any of the places, one should always research the dos and don’ts of the venue just to be respectful of the local traditions and cultures.
Recently, a woman in Italy incited outrage among locals by appearing “indecent” for a photo shoot on the historic steps of Duomo di Amalfi (Amalfi Cathedral). Wearing nothing but a long red cloth, the woman posed under a monument of Jesus Christ.
A video posted on YouTube shows workers stopping what they were doing to instead record the scene at the top of the stairway. Passersby also stopped walking and took videos of the provocative spectacle. In the video, a woman can be heard calling the model’s stunt “Crazy.” Clearly shocked, she adds “Naked at the church.”
According to Daily Mail, locals were outraged at the group for the choice of location. The Amalfi Cathedral dates back to the 9th century so the monument is a sacred place and deeply important to the community. The risqué stunt attracted the attention of the public, and soon after the trio was quickly questioned by local authorities.
It is understood that the half-nude woman is actually 28-year-old Canadian influencer, Savannah Cross. Accompanied by her friend – Jemma Hopson, it is believed that both women are in Italy for a mutual friend’s birthday party. The male of the trio is presumed to be the photographer for their explicit stunt.
It was then discovered that the trio had not obtained proper authorisation for the shoot. They were also warned not to release any photos from the shoot. Let this be a learning point for all those out there; please be mindful of the things you do, especially in a totally different country. What do you think? Were they let off too easy?
