Few things bring people together like festivals. After all, it creates shared moments between people as they celebrate together. With fun and food, festivals usually promise a good time for all. And Deepavali is no exception.
When one thinks Deepavali, aside from their eye-catching decorations and dances, the festival’s food is what jumps to mind. It’s rare to enjoy the tasty morsels that only seem to be available during the celebration. Well, have we got a treat for you. This Deepavali, enjoy selected curated feasts as you celebrate with friends and family!
1. Mandarin Oriental
It’s time to go back to India’s roots with this feast! Mandarin Oriental presents the Regional Cuisines of India, made by Chef Rajiv Vatsyayan and his Brigade de Cuisine. Each authentic dish and drink allows visitors to indulge in the taste of India incorporated by their spices and seasonal ingredients.
Some dishes which stood out were the Sikandari Khush Ran and Tandoori Champein. Both dishes are made with lamb, just cooked in different ways. The Sikandari Khush Ran is a leg of lamb marinated in the chef’s specialty blend of spices and air cooked inside a steam container with root vegetables. The Tandoori Champein is marinated lamb chops cooked in a tandor oven. But, if you love fish, the dish to try would be the Meen Moilee which is a specialty fish dish from the Southern Indian coastal region.
However, for dessert we highly recommend trying the Fruit Pani Puri Shooter. It’s flavoured water served with a deep-fried crisp flatbread. Additionally, it’s fun to eat as you can add ingredients of your own choosing to the flatbread before washing everything down with the flavoured water. Tasting this popular Indian street food was certainly an experience!
This feast will be hosted at Mosiac from 20th to 24th October. The Regional Cuisines of India priced at RM188+ per person for lunch and RM228+ per person for Dinner or Sunday Brunch.
