A total of 22 individuals, including six teenagers and one schoolgirl, were recently arrested by the police at a wild party in a raid on a three-storey bungalow located in Batu Ferringhi, Penang last week on Thursday (13th October).
North-east district police chief, ACP Soffian Santong said that the police raided the bungalow at 1:40am upon receiving information on the case. They managed to arrest 14 men and eight women, who were all aged between 16 and 21.
“Of the number arrested, six are minors and one is still in school. We also seized two packets of ketamine weighing 0.9 grams (g) and three ecstacy pills, all worth RM195. Initial investigations found that the organiser was a 19-year-old man, who rented the bungalow at the rate of RM1,000 per night. His guests were mostly his friends, who had received private invitations through WhatsApp group,” Soffian revealed.
Those who joined the party were required to pay RM80 and RM100, while the female invitees were not charged. Urine tests found that six of the men were positive for methamphetamine. All of the suspects were later remanded for six days – from 13th to 18th October – to assist in the investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 12(3) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
