After living in Taiwan for so long, Sabah-born singer Gary Chaw (曹格) has finally returned to Malaysia! Gary is mainly back in town for his upcoming concert “Crazy for LIVE” in November. However, not all is well with the singer.
Gary recently revealed that he has been having issues with his marriage. Apparently, he’s been in a cold war with his wife Wu Shuling (吳速玲). Although the couple has been working towards saving their 14-year-old marriage, Gary apparently shared that he is uncertain if it will last!
Netizens have been questioning their marriage for a while now. However, according to Gary, things got worse after his drunken scandal in March this year. Gary added that currently, he and his wife are in a cold war. As such, Shuling will not be attending his upcoming concert. His son, Joe, too will not be there as he allegedly has a football match to attend in Taiwan.
Gary explained that his relationship with Shuling is in a bad state. “This is about our two in-laws,” he shared during his recent press conference for his concert. “I can only say that we are working hard (to fix it).” Gary added that he didn’t feel comfortable sharing too much about their married life.
However, the singer acknowledged that the decision to be apart wasn’t just Shuling’s. He admitted that he needed space too. “I (also) don’t think I should be the only one speaking (about this), it’s only fair (for) my wife to be present,” Gary said. “Now, I’m not sure if (our marriage) will last, but we are sure that we love our children very much!”
Gary shared that he’d been having a hard time since August last year. Additionally, he had lost family and close friends to Covid causing his depression and anxiety order to recur. The drunken scandal in March hadn’t helped. Gary shared that he had actually stopped drinking then and was only drinking chicken soup that day.
The mess with the scandal had left him upset as no one had asked for his side of the story. However, Gary added that he has since let go of the issue. “I admit that I have a bad temper,” he stated with a laugh. But Gary has also promised to continue working on improving himself.
While Gary’s news was unexpected, it has certainly tugged on many heartstrings. Fans have left well-wishes and encouragement in his socials’ comment sections. We too hope he and Shuling will be able to sort things out soon. In the meantime, we, like many others, are looking forward to his “Crazy for LIVE” concert!
