Malaysian-born artist Shila Amzah has always been known among fans for her outspoken and straightforward personality, as seen on her social media postings. Recently, she came forward to share her honest response when one of her fans appeared to compare her to another powerhouse vocalist – Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza!
For those in the dark, the drama started after a Twitter user, who claimed to be a superfan of the singer, posted a tweet following her performance at the recent “Gegar Vaganza 9” concert over the weekend. According to the fan, @frantwine, Shila could possibly “end Siti’s career” with her splendid vocals. The post was deleted afterwards, following massive backlash from netizens.
Needless to say, Shila (full name Nurshahila Amir Amzah) didn’t take too kindly to the fan’s opinion. “Stop doing this. I do not condone anyone (talking) shit about other people to make someone else look better. If you are a real fan, please stop this immediately. Let’s celebrate all kinds of talents, celebrate love, instead of hating on one another. We are better than this. 🙏🏼 Please,” the “Beribu Sesalan” singer responded on her Twitter.
Many of the fans criticised the Twitter user for unnecessarily pitting the two famous celebs against each other. One of Shila’s fans also revealed that the netizen in question was not a fan of Shila, as she doesn’t follow the singer on Twitter. “That person (is) obviously not a fan of yours! She purposely dragged Tokti so that you’d gain more haters 😭 Please report (this account)!!!” one fan tweeted.
Following that, the fan in question once again took to her Twitter to issue a public apology. She wrote, “Dear @shilaamzah, I am so sorry for the trouble I caused. I promise I will never come up with posts like that in the future in the name of your fan-club Shilalas. And to Dato’ Siti and her fans, I also would like to apologise for the (hurtful) words I said. I am truly sorry. From now on, I will be more aware of the things I say and post.”
We certainly hope the netizen will learn from her mistake!
