Everyone would agree that certain foods are just staples. For most Malaysians, rice is the main one but another fairly staple food is bread. If you’re too lazy to grab something to eat in the morning, you can always fall back on good old bread.
Unfortunately, as of 1st September, well-known bread brand Gardenia has officially increased its prices. We know tracking each price increase can be hard, so here’s a price guide of how much each one has increased by and how much it is now.
1. Gardenia Classic and Classic Jumbo

For Gardenia Classic and Classic Jumbo, both have increased by 20 sen and 40 sen each. So, Gardenia Classic, which was previously RM2.80 now costs RM3.00 while the Jumbo Classic went from RM4.00 to RM4.30.
2. Gardenia Delicia and Toast’em

The Gardenia Delicia and Toast’em loaves initially cost RM5.00. However, all loaves in the series, which includes the Choco Raisin, Butterscotch and Raspberry Milk & Cranberries flavours, are now RM5.50.
3. Gardenia Breakthru Wholemeal Bread with Canadian Purple Wheat

Let’s not forget the Gardenia Breakthru Wholemeal Bread with Canadian Purple Wheat. This intriguing and tasty loaf has gone up from RM4.00 to RM4.60 thanks to a 60 sen increase.
4. Gardenia Twiggies and Squiggles

Gardenia is also pretty famous for their buns which have been a blessed favourite of many who often want a quick bite when hungry. Unfortunately, those haven’t escaped the price increase. Well-loved Squiggles and Twiggies series have increased by 20 sen each, which puts their prices at RM1.50 and RM2.00 respectively.
5. Gardenia Quick Bites Buns

The usual flavoured buns, that is corn, vanilla, chocolate and butter sugar buns, have increased from RM1.00 to RM1.10. However, their more ‘exotic ‘flavours like red bean and butter toffee buns have gone up by 20 sen making it RM1.40 now.
6. Gardenia Puazz! and Fluffy Buns

If you like the mackerel sambal and chicken curry flavour, these Puazz! buns have increased by 30 sen from RM2.20 which makes its new price RM2.50. The Fluffy buns series have also gone up by 30 sen, and they now cost RM4.00.
Well, we can’t deny that Gardenia bread has always been tasty. However, some have claimed that these new prices might not be palatable for everyone.
This is also notably Gardenia’s second price hike in less than a year, after their first in December 2021. The company attributes the price hike to the inflation of raw materials.
