Singer Noraniza Idris will reportedly hold her final concert ever, “Malai Solo”, in October. The concert will take place at Istana Budaya, over the course of three days from October 21 through October 23. The dates and the price of tickets have been made public, and the tickets are already available for purchase.
She also expressed her desire back in May to invite renowned fellow singer, Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza as the concert’s special guest. However, netizens took to Twitter to criticise the price after the announcement.

The tickets price range from RM299 to RM1599. There are some netizens who simply wrote their dissatisfaction regarding the ticket price, while others support the veteran singer.
The netizens justified that the price list is a giving due to the 54-year-old’s high status in the music industry. Noraniza – also known as Kak Ani – had won awards for her spectacular shows that utilise dancers and props. “Why the hate? Watch her old performances on YouTube and reflect,” and “She is one of the best ethnic performers in Malaysia, please support her,” the Twitter users wrote.
Other frustration regarding the price of the tickets can be read such as, “Her (most expensive) ticket costs more than the basic salary,” “Is she going to hire a whole village of dancers?,” “Her opening act is Lady Gaga, that’s why it’s expensive,” and “I would only pay such a price for Siti Nurhaliza and M. Nasir.” There are also a few others who compared her to Billie Eilish, an American singer-songwriter who recently performed in Malaysia.

Considering “Malai Solo” concert is going to be Noraniza’s last ever, whoever can afford the tickets are entitled to decide for themselves. Regardless, keep supporting our local artists.
