Tunku Mahkota Johor (TMJ), Tunku Ismail Idris, took to his IG Story last night (Monday, 8th August) to disclose the amount of salary received by footballer Arif Aiman Hanapi. For the uninitiated, the 20-year-old has been playing for the Johor Darul Ta’zim football club (JDT F.C) since 2020.
As revealed by the Crown Prince of Johor himself, Arif “only received” RM11,000 last year. Despite the relatively low pay, TMJ clarified that the athlete is still committed in giving his best performance for each tournament with his team.
“I know each and every one of my players. From the (JDT) academy to the main team. I’m also the one in charge of making the decision regarding the player’s contract. Do you know how much Arif Aiman earned last year? RM11K only. But he still works extremely hard for the team,” the football club owner wrote in his post.
Tunku Ismail then added, “Why? It’s because of how I take care of each players. For example, bonuses will be given to each player who gives 100 percent during training sessions and matches.” According to an additional report by Harian Metro, the market value of the right midfielder for the Malaysian football team has also reached RM1.4 million, as revealed in the world-renowned website Transfermarkt.

In his IG Story post, TMJ also explained that when it comes to signing of new players, he and the coach will evaluate on which player should be brought in to JDT F.C. In this case, the players will be evaluated on whether they are able live up to the club’s “philosophies”. Among the philosophies include “dominate”, “determine”, “discipline”, “innovate”, and also “progress”.
