Taiwanese artist Joe Chen (陳喬恩) got married to the love of her life, Malaysian actor Alan Chen (曾伟昌) earlier this year. However, their peaceful life has been marred by rumours. In addition to people wondering if Joe and Alan’s parents were against their marriage, some wondered if she was pregnant.
The 43-year-old has clarified the speculations. Unfortunately, rumours of her pregnancy resurfaced recently, much to Joe’s frustration. Now, the actress is done with it. In fact, she recently reprimanded netizens about it on her Weibo in a scathing post!

On 29th July, Joe commemorated her meeting with Alan on the show “Meeting Mr. Right 2 ( 女儿们的恋爱 2)”. The couple had met via the reality dating programme three years ago in 2019. Joe made her own post for the anniversary and shared posts made by fans on her Instagram Story.
One post stated that Joe and Alan went from a family of two to a family of three. However, many were quick to assume Joe was announcing she was pregnant. Joe’s agent later clarified that the “family of three” was referring to Joe’s pet dog. The actress had once said it was her “son”. Unfortunately, the clarification did not do much to stop the rumours.
The rumours and speculations abounded, going from Joe being pregnant to her already having given birth in secret and having a miscarriage. Well, Joe finally got fed up with everything. As such, she addressed the issue yesterday (8th August).

“Since I got married, the world has been very concerned about whether I am pregnant or not,” she stated. Joe added that sometimes after eating, her stomach will look slightly bloated. This often sparks rumours causing people to start asking her about the news. After she and her team clarify yet again that she isn’t pregnant, others will start to wonder if she is just seeking attention.
Some will say the constant news about her is annoying, others will speculate that she has already given birth but will not admit it and wonder why as it is “a good thing”. A few will even claim she had a miscarriage. “Sometimes, these comments on the internet are dumbfounding,” Joe said. “Why are people so malicious towards women?”
Although not all the responses have been negative, Joe admits she’s tired of fending off the rumours. “I don’t think (being) pregnant is the most important thing (in life),” she stated. “(Your) happiness is the most important thing.” She added that as life is constantly full of surprises, it can be hard to please everyone.

Well, Joe feels she has done what she can to stave off more rumours. However, she is currently choosing to focus on her life and her fans that support her. We too hope Joe and Alan will be able to live out their lives peacefully after this!
