Now that more and more borders are opening up, there’s been an incremental trend in flight, hotel and attraction bookings from Malaysians. After the 2.5 years pause, we’re itching to travel the world again – and on our list is Japan.
According to Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), the Land of the Rising Sun has been gradually accepting tourist again. Although we aren’t able to pack our bags and travel to Japan immediately, members of the media were able to “taste” Japan through a delicious omakase meal.

During the session, we got a brief introduction to Japan tourism that highlighted Sustainable Travelling as well as Muslim-friendly attractions and food places to explore. It definitely stirred up the wanderlust in us to experience what Japan has to offer in person.
While at the newly-located Sushi Hibiki, which is situated in Shoppes at Four Seasons Place Kuala Lumpur, Executive Chef Saito Makoto (Sam) brought us on a remarkable Japanese cuisine journey to Hokkaido, Saitama, Miyagi, Chiba, Aichi, Oita, and Okayama. Chef Sam and his team also gave a clear description on every dish that was presented to us.
Using only the finest ingredients, our omakase menu included:
Appetizer: Zensai, Sakizuke, Kobachi
- Steamed tea beans, Saitama
- Osmic tomato, Chiba
- Oyster chawanmushi, Miyagi
Sashimi (Raw Fish)
- Coho salmon, Miyagi
- Botan ebi, Hokkaido
Yakimono (Grilled)
- Spanish mackerel, Miyagi-Chiba
Sushi, Tempura
- Tuna, Miyagi
- Sea Urchin, Hokkaido
Dessert: Mizugashi
- Peach, Okayama
It was not only a feast for the eyes but our delectable omakase at Sushi Hibiki was a memorable experience. Mark your calendars wanderlusters: September is going to be an amazing month cause you can look out for JNTO at the upcoming MATTA Fair as well as Japan Travel Fair 2022 at Tropicana Gardens Mall.
