There are few who haven’t heard of the Hong Kong legend Andy Lau (劉德華). Known for his acting and singing skills, Andy has been delighting fans ever since his debut in 1981. He’s also gotten more charming with age, which has endeared him to many fans.
Although Andy has demonstrated his talent many times on screen, fans have always wanted him to join “The Voice of China (中国好声音)” as a mentor. In fact, he was invited to previously, but he turned it down. This time, he agreed to be on the show, but not as a mentor. Instead, Andy will be a “witness”!

This year, “The Voice of China (中国好声音)” has gone all out in inviting mentors for the show. It is after all, their 10th anniversary. With mentors like Fish Leong (梁静茹), Li Ronghao (李荣浩), and Hacken Lee (李克勤, they are certainly preparing for quite the season.
Recently, there have been rumours that Andy would be joining the show as a mentor. However, it turns out that the rumours were only half right. Andy’s agency has confirmed that the artist will be attending the show. However, he will be serving as a “witness”. Apparently, Andy will be “witnessing” the opening of the show for their 10th anniversary and the finale when the champion is chosen.
Fans aren’t disappointed with Andy not being a mentor; most are just happy he’ll be there. However, Andy has his reasons for not being a mentor. He previously mentioned in another interview that he felt undeserving of such a role. “I’m afraid,” he reportedly said. “Because (other) mentors could hear the rhythm was wrong, (but) I can’t hear it. I feel like I haven’t reached the (level of) a mentor.”

Well, perhaps one day Andy will finally feel ready to take on the role of mentoring. For now, fans can look forward to seeing him on the show at least!
