If you’ve spent a few minutes with any pet lover, you will know the lengths they go to for their fur babies. When it comes to these people, pets are literally part of the family, and for good reason. Unfortunately, not everyone seems to hold their pets to the same standards.
Thai singer MiMi Lee (李紫婷), like any other pet owner, loves her dog Melody (美乐蒂) very much. As she’s currently based in China, MiMi was hoping to bring Melody over from Thailand to be with her. What was meant to be a joyous reunion at the airport turned to horror when MiMi discovered Melody’s body instead.
MiMi launched her career as an artist when she debuted as a member of Chinese girl group Rocket Girls 101 (火箭少女101). Unfortunately, her work means she hasn’t been able to return home to Thailand as often as usual. The additional restraints from the pandemic complicated matters further. As such, MiMi recently decided to bring Melody to China to be with her.
On 25th June, the singer excitedly made her way to the airport, looking forward to the first of many happy weekends with her dog. However, it was never to be. MiMi claimed that she went through plenty of procedures to ensure Melody boarded the plane safely. But upon arrival, it was discovered that Melody had already drawn her last breath.
“I was shaking in shock,” MiMi shared on her Weibo. “What the hell happened to my dog?” The 22-year-old added that they exhausted every means of finding the truth. “We contacted the airlines on both sides, the MG agency and (even) asked a doctor to examine (my) dog, hoping to find out (what happened),” she said.
However, the results left her frustrated. MiMi stated that they could not contact the Thai airline, Thai Airways and that the Chinese airlines were blaming each other. “No one can give me an accurate answer,” MiMi lamented. “I don’t know, what should I do now? Who can help me with this?” The singer added that she hopes to receive an answer from Thai Airways and China Eastern soon.
Our hearts go out to the singer for her devastating loss. Pets mean a lot to their owners and for her to have lost her pet after not being able to see it for more than two years must be difficult. We hope MiMi finds out what happened to her dog, if only for peace of mind.
