Remember the time when shirtless durian sellers used to be a thing back then? At one point, a few durian stalls (including this one in PJ) also jumped on the bandwagon by hiring physically attractive men for work.
Apparently, the trend is making a comeback now. Recently, a college student set social media ablaze after a shirtless photo of himself selling the thorny king of fruits went viral online. The young man, named Ashton, had recently opened a durian stall in Kepong Baru, KL.
The 19-year-old drew instant attention from netizens after he shared the photo on the Chinese social media platform XiaoHongShu, along with a cheeky caption that reads, “After Jordan Yeoh, now it’s my turn to sell durians.” For those in the dark, the celebrity trainer became an overnight internet sensation after photos of him selling durians while baring his ripped physique went viral a few years ago.
In an interview with a local portal, Ashton said that selling durians was a way for him to earn extra income while pursuing his studies. Apart from working at the durian stall, he also said that he works as a part-time trainer. “However, I wish to clarify that I actually don’t sell durians shirtless. The photo was for marketing purpose only,” he explained.
The photo of Ashton flaunting his abs has since gone viral and was met with tons of responses from netizens. Many couldn’t help but to drool over both the durians and also his well-built body. “Let me have the abs, but not the durians,” one netizen commented. Another chimed in by saying, “How many durians must I purchase so that I can touch the abs?”
