Malaysia is known for a lot of delicious food. However, one local fruit in particular incites either a love it or hate it reaction. That’s right; it’s the durian.
The king of fruits is usually well loved by most locals but often is a hit and miss among foreigners. Some love the taste and texture, others simply can’t stand the smell. This Japanese couple however loved it so much they cried tears of joy when they tasted it again after three years without it!

YouTubers iChang RM are a Japanese couple who recently returned to Malaysia after a long stay in Hong Kong. The duo had apparently been stranded there thanks to the epidemic. However, after three years of being away, the couple were happy to return to Malaysia, even going as far as to describe it as their “hometown”.
The two have been enjoying themselves in Malaysia since May. But, what they have really been waiting for is the durian season. The couple made their way to their usual durian store in SS2 on 20th June, excited to finally dig into their favorite fruit. Both of them had a grand time choosing their durians and preparing to enjoy them.

The YouTubers shared that they normally went for Musang King and Black Thorn durians. However, this time they opted for D12 and D24 durians instead. The first mouthful of durian flesh was enough to make iChang cry. “Happy tears,” she reassured as she continued sampling her durian. The couple agreed that after eating durian, it felt like they had “finally arrived in Malaysia“.
iChang claimed she had fallen in love with durians three years ago. “Malaysia made me (into a) “Durian addict”,” she jokingly said. iChang had apparently studied the types of durians in her hunt for delicious ones. However, three years later, she admits she’s less picky. “(It’s) because it’s fresh,” she stated.

Well, the couple not only enjoyed their durian at the store, they also made sure to take some home! It certainly made iChang happy.
We’re sure the couple will be taking full advantage of the durian season to satisfy their cravings. If you’re a durian lover too, look out for them at your local durian store! You may just run into them too.
