One of the fun things about social media is that you can try trends and challenges with your friends. The most entertaining ones are usually by people who couldn’t manage to do the challenges properly, which adds to the humour.
You can even start your own fun challenges for others to attempt, and who knows, it might just go viral. Actor and host Awal Ashaari even started his own challenge but the reason behind this challenge is not just for fun and games. Here’s the story:
Awal Ashaari recently posted a video of him doing an original challenge on his Instagram page with the caption, “Don’t worry, no boom gates were harmed during this process 😉”. The video shows him doing multiple funny poses with a parking lot boom gate. The 40-year-old named the challenge the #PalangChallenge.
Fellow celebs and fans were entertained by the video but the idea for the #PalangChallenge did not just come out of nowhere, nor was it just for the actor’s own amusement. Apparently, Awal created the challenge as a way for him to poke fun at his current ongoing case. The “Seru” star was accused of damaging a boom gate by the management of his old home in Sunway Damansara.
He posted a 30-minute long video on his Instagram a few days ago explaining the situation of what really happened. The father of two was apparently denied entry to his old house due to overdue fee payment but clarified that he did not break anything when entering and that he carefully lifted the boom gate with his hand and placed it back.
In the same video, Awal shared that he admitted to the overdue payment and kindly asked the management to let him in but they refused to cooperate. The management then filed a police report accusing the actor of breaking the boom gate which they claimed cost them a loss of RM600.
Awal was initially charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code and the case is still ongoing with the Astro Ria TV Host pleaded not guilty in court. He was allowed bail of RM2,000 and the case will be revisited some time in July.
