The comeback of live stage performances is perhaps one of the most anxiously anticipated news to emerge as Malaysia comes closer to endemicity during its transition phase. Many Malaysians are also aware that international acts frequently skip Malaysia as a detour, but not this time!
With the confirmation of Canadian megastar Justin Bieber and American rock band Boys Like Girls slated to have performances in Malaysia this year, the prayers of music fans are finally being heard. Additionally, South Korean sensation PSY (박재상) is rumoured to be performing in Malaysia!
If the speculations are true, we might add yet another well-known name to the expanding list of top performers, as China Press just reported that the South Korean pop phenomenon PSY may be performing in Malaysia this June! After his 2012 track “Gangnam Style” went viral throughout the world, the 44-year-old musician, also known by his actual name Park Jae-sang, skyrocketed to international stardom.
It is also said to be an annual conference hosted at the Sepang International Circuit by an e-commerce enterprise. According to the publication, the event will likely take place on Tuesday, 2nd June, and Wednesday, 3rd June. With over 100 supercars gathering together and 100 gorgeous automobile models, it creates the longest stage in history. Other than PSY, local singer-rapper Namewee is also rumoured to be performing for this celebration as well.
This would be his third performance in Malaysia (if this is true), having previously been invited by the Barisan Nasional coalition to perform at the party’s Chinese New Year reunion event in 2013, as well as the Future Music Festival in the same year. PSY’s latest full-length album – “PSY 9th,” was released this year and featured collaborations with prominent K-idols including SUGA of BTS, Hwasa of MAMAMOO, and Jessi.
