The Indonesian horror flick “KKN Di Desa Penari” has been the talk of the town among netizens in Indonesia, and even in Malaysia, for the past few weeks. Interestingly, it was reported that the movie has also broken the record as the highest-grossing horror movie in Indonesia!
It’s understood that the movie is based on the true story that took place in 2019. The story went viral on Twitter after it was posted by a user named Simple Man. “KKN Di Desa Penari” follows a group of students who encounter several mystical events while carrying out their work (KKN) task in a remote village located in the jungle. Naturally, fans have been curious on the exact filming location of the movie.

Some people claimed that the filming of the movie took place in the Banyuwangi district, a village located in the eastern region of the Java Island. Soon after the allegations came to light, a YouTuber named Sultoni Irsyah uploaded a video of him touring in what appears to be an abandoned forest. It is said that the location is pretty much similar to the one featured in “KKN Di Desa Penari”.
As revealed by Sultoni Irsyah himself in his video, he was having a little trouble arriving at the place. According to him, he had to pass through a very narrow road, and even had to crawl through the woods. He went on to claim that he had come across a few local villagers and discovered a deserted house which was filled with bushes.

Despite Sultoni’s claims, it was revealed that several details (including the location of filming) were never disclosed by the production team.
