We’ve been experiencing some pretty scary stormy weather recently. Just earlier this week, a lot of areas and roads in the city of Kuala Lumpur were flooded causing massive traffic jams and damage to people’s vehicles.
Another terrifying storm hit KL last night (Thursday, 29th April) and it looks like Publika KL took a big hit. Stand-up comedian Harith Iskander was there during the storm and shared his experience of how he and his team had to help evacuate people from the flying debris.

Malaysia’s Godfather of Stand-up Comedy, Harith Iskander posted a video on his Instagram earlier today showing him and his team having to brave a heavy storm to help evacuate everyone at Publika Shopping Gallery. The video is captioned, “Yesterday, during buka puasa my team and I rushed to evacuate people from the flying debris as all HELL broke loose when a freak storm hit @publikgallery.”
The 55-year-old also described in his caption of how they managed to help one woman who was holding her baby in one arm to safety. The video was originally posted by digital creator Dan Khoo on his Instagram. Harith also posted a series of Instastories showing the situation of the storm last night.
According to the comedian, vendors at the venue were apparently trying to stay in their stalls to protect their goods but to no avail as the storm had destroyed pretty much everything they had. Aftermaths of the storm were also posted on his Instastory where we can see the damage the storm had caused.
One netizen who goes by the username @rajairfan77 was apparently one of the vendors at Publika. He posted before and after photos of his stall on his Twitter and thanking Harith and his team for helping them during and after the storm.
The “Funniest Person In The World” winner was at the Joke Factory Theatre last night, a comedy club owned by him, when the storm hit and that’s when Harith and his team went out to help those in need.
