Nowadays, it isn’t uncommon to have a few pairs of branded shoes. After all, they’re good quality and they look nice. Unfortunately, that does mean that you can’t leave them outside. Because that invites the possibility of shoe thieves.
This lady in Muar, Johor had an unfortunate experience of having her branded shoes stolen. The thief made off with eight pairs of shoes worth roughly RM5,000 in total. She then reported the incident on Facebook to alert others of the danger.

According to the woman, the incident took place at Jalan Kim Kee in Muar on 24th April. The lady had apparently only realised something was wrong at 6:30am, when she was getting her kid ready for school. Apparently, her shoe cupboard door had been left open with an open shoebox left on the ground. The odd disarray had her checking her shoes and that was when she saw the theft.
The thief had taken eight pairs of branded shoes, such as Nike, Addidas and GUCCI. “The most distressing (loss) was my husband’s GUCCI sneakers, which cost more than RM3,000 a pair,” the lady stated. CCTV footage showed that the thief had paid them a visit in the early morning, around 4am. They had entered and exited the compound by hopping the fence. They also had a bag with them, presumably for the shoes.
In an attempt to warn those living in the area, the lady reported the incident on Facebook. Surprisingly, others came forth to claim that this wasn’t the first time such an incident had occurred. “(They) visited my house last year too,” one admitted. “Those who live in the Kim Kee area, please be careful.” Some even claimed this usually happened around the Ramadan month. Another alleged that their family’s clothes had also been stolen, alongside their shoes.

Having a shoe thief on the loose is certainly worrisome and frustrating. Hopefully they will be caught soon. In the meantime, residents will likely need to take security measures. For instance, either keeping the shoes in the houses or getting an alarm system to protect their footwear!
