Despite the crazy hot weather and the horrible floods having passed, Malaysia has been going through random spouts of rainy days lately. And the best remedy to a cold, rainy day indoors is definitely a hot bowl of soup to warm your soul. Especially after a long day of work and school, warming yourself up with good food is always the way to go.
Well, in light of rainy days and long working hours, we went ahead and visited Diao Yu Tai Hot Pot to treat ourselves to a warm meal this past month! From devouring delicious Wagyu beef to indulging in unique cocktails, it’s safe to say we enjoyed ourselves during our visit.
Rich Soup Bases To Warm You Up
When it comes to hot pot, the selling point is always their soup base. During our visit, we had the lovely chance to try three of Diao Yu Tai Hot Pot’s best selling soup bases. Namely their pork bone soup, tomato soup and signature mala soup.
Our favourite was definitely their pork bone soup. Its rich taste brought out the flavour of their dishes, and countered their spicy mala extremely well. One thing to note is that at Diao Yu Tai Hot Pot, their soup bases are good enough to stand on their own. More often than not, we found ourselves just slurping down their soups without having to dip their meats or vegetables in!
Speaking of their meats and vegetables, we had the chance to try out some of their signature must-have dishes as well, including their Miyazaki A5 Wagyu Beef, Iberico Pork Belly, and Homemade Fish Paste.
One thing that stood out to us was definitely how adorable their Homemade Fish Paste was! It was made to look like tiny little koi fish swimming in your soup when you cook it. Their wagyu beef was also a big highlight of the whole meal. Paired with their soup base, the flavour of the meat really shone through!

An Enchanting Ambiance Paired With Unique Cocktails
Usually when we walk into a restaurant, we don’t expect too much from its interior so long as we’re getting good food. But with Diao Yu Tai Hot Pot, you’ll be getting the whole package!
Located in Menara Lien Hoe in Petaling Jaya, Diao Yu Tai Hot Pot has a shimmering and enchanting ambience that is sure to capture your attention. Walking in, we were greeted by artificial blossoming peach trees, creating an oriental feel you don’t see as commonly around KL.
Not only that, the restaurant comes with an open bar where you can order a range of unique shots and cocktails. What other way to really warm yourself up than to down some alcohol?
Personally, we really enjoyed their Meijian cocktail! It was light and sweet, perfect for lightweights or people with a sweet tooth. The Jiang Xiao Bai shot is more on the stronger side, so proceed with caution if you decide to order the drink at their bar.
So, if you’re looking to warm yourself up during a rainy day or drink some cocktails at a ambient bar, Diao Yu Tai Hot Pot is definitely where you need to go.
