We all love going to our fair share of kopitiams and mamaks for breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper. One, for their amazing food, but, more importantly, two, because the prices won’t make our pockets bleed. But now with Covid-19 becoming the norm, restaurant hygiene is all the more important. And let’s be honest, mamaks and kopitiams aren’t winning any hygiene and cleanliness prizes any time soon.
But that doesn’t mean you’ll have to sacrifice affordable and delicious food for cleanliness or vice versa! At Mountain Village Kopitiam, you can enjoy amazing food for amazingly cheap prices without having to compromise on restaurant cleanliness at all.
Located in SS2, Mountain Village Kopitiam is our current go-to spot for authentic Nyonya food with amazingly cheap prices and a clean and quiet ambience to boot. The family-owned restaurant originated from Melacca, where their owner and chef worked in Nyonya cuisine for over 10 years. In an effort to share his love for Nyonya food in a way that was affordable and cheap, both him and his wife decided to open up Mountain Village to do just that.
From their classic Nasi Lemak (RM1.80) to their more experimental Nyonya Kahwin (RM3.80), their menu is filled with instant favourites that will captivate your taste buds immediately. And with their highest priced item sitting at a measly RM5.50 on their menu, you won’t be needing to skimp on your orders when you visit.

Speaking of their Nyonya Kahwin, it was one of our personal favourites. For the uninitiated, you might be confused as to what it is. Well, surprise, surprise! It’s a blend of both their Nyonya Curry and Nyonya Asam Laksa! The sourness of an asam laksa, combined with the savoury and spiciness of the curry was a taste you won’t be able to find anywhere else other than here.

Their signature 3-layer tea (RM3.50) is also to die for! Unlike the overly-sweet variations you tend to get from other kopitiams and restaurants, Mountain Village makes a lovely blend that brings out all the layers without giving you diabetes. They also offer a range of drinks for as low as RM1.80, with all the instant classics like Milo and Kopi O available.
The interior of the restaurant is quiet, quaint and perfect for a simple day out with your friends and family. No more needing to wipe your tables and chairs before taking a seat, Mountain Village’s spotless design is sure to quell any worries you may have.
So, if you’re looking to grab a bit of local food for lunch or dinner but would prefer to stray away from mamaks and roadside kopitiams, be sure to head on over to SS2 and stop by Mountain Village!
