We will probably never hear the end of “Karens” unfortunately. Some people simply have no regard for others’ lives and don’t care that they’re putting everyone at risk in the name of “freedom”. Everyone has their own right to live their lives however they want, true, but there are still rules to follow, especially if these rules are for everyone’s safety.

If you can’t follow one simple rule then perhaps find another establishment that allows you to live your life freely. Unfortunately, this concept seems so hard for some people to grasp like this recent “Karen” who refused to wear a face mask when entering SOGO mall in Kuala Lumpur.

Recently, a video posted on TikTok by user @ril.qeem went viral. The video showed a woman throwing a fit at SOGO Mall KL after being denied from entering the premises because she refused to wear a face mask. The video has gained over 738.9k views, 21.9k likes and 3 084 comments at the time the article was published.

The woman is seen shouting at the security guards for doing their job of not letting her in without a face mask. “Are you working for  US? I’m asking you which country are you in now? You belong to which country? You belong to Biden is it? I’m asking you, you’re under Biden is it?,” the woman shouted.

Netizens wasted no time and condemned her for her actions of not following the rules. Some compared the “Karen” in the video to Kak Long 7-Eleven. One user claimed to have met her crying outside. Some even claimed that the woman is mentally ill and there were those who said she is financially well-off and lives at Jalan Ampang. However, there has been no proof nor confirmation to these claims so far.

At this time, there are no further updates on this “Karen” case from SOGO mall, the authorities or the video poster. Be reminded that even with the endemic phase happening soon (1st April), it is still mandatory for everyone to wear a face mask when going out in public. You may find more information on the endemic phase here.
