TVB’s Chief Creative Officer (CCO) Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍) hasn’t been in TVB’s good books. In early February, Cho Lam had a falling out with a few TVB executives. They were dissatisfied with his work as they supposedly felt he lacked creativity. One issue that they brought up was Cho Lam’s tendency to make new programs out of pre-existing concepts.
Although many hadn’t felt it was a big deal then, netizens now feel it is one. Especially after they discovered some startling similarities between Cho Lam’s music video of “Love You At 105°C (热爱105度的你)” and Malaysian YouTube group Dissy (低清)’s.

Cho Lam’s TVB programme “Happy Camp (快乐大本营)” underwent many changes last year. It was later reinvented as “Hello Saturday (你好星期六)”. In a recent episode, Cho Lam and Singer Yang Yuying (杨钰莹) presented their version of Ah Si (阿肆)’s 2019 song “Love You At 105°C”. The style of the music video was reminiscent of the 80s with large, colourful wordings, transitions and scenery.
Although impressive, netizens soon realised why it looked familiar. Apparently, local YouTube group Dissy had done their own portrayal of the song with the same style in October 2021. Aside from the actors and the backgrounds, the videos looked rather similar.
Netizens were quick to leave comments on the music video, airing their grievances. “(It’s) really obvious, (the video has been) copy pasted,” one comment pointed out. “Copied (Dissy’s)?” another asked. “Shameless plagiarism,” one viewer condemned. Additionally, others claimed they preferred Dissy’s version as they felt it was done better.

Although the videos aren’t exactly the same, it can be argued that they shared similar ideas. Perhaps Cho Lam’s team and Dissy’s group had the same brain child, but performed it differently? Neither party has yet to comment on the issue.
