While everyone enjoys doing birthday celebrations, different people tend to celebrate it differently. Some love to shower their loved ones with gifts, others like to have a quiet day with them. However, tycoon Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun’s family is doing things differently.
The Berjaya Corporation Berhad chairman is dearly beloved by his family, as evidenced by their early celebration of his 70th birthday. However, his daughter Chryseis Tan (陈雪铃) decided to gift her father something different this year. Apparently, she has donated money to charity in honour of her father!
Yesterday (23rd February), Chryseis posted her wishes to her father on Instagram. “Happy birthday, Dad!” she wrote cheerfully. “Love you tons, may you always be blessed with good health and happiness.” She also included a photo of them during their younger days, when she was still small.
In addition to the birthday wish, Chryseis announced her gift to her father. “My gift to him is a donation on his behalf to (the) Tzu Chi foundation, because I know nothing will make him happier than to help those in need,” she stated. The Tzu Chi foundation is apparently an international humanitarian organisation. They focus on helping those in need. According to the photo of the cheque included, Chryseis donated RM99,999.00 under her dad’s name.

From Chyrseis’s Instagram Stories, the family clearly had a grand celebration for Mr Vincent yesterday. However, she had to forfeit Singaporean heiress Kim Lim’s wedding for her dad’s birthday. Chyrseis promised to make it up to Kim in addition to congratulating her.
Well, that’s definitely one way to celebrate a birthday! We’re sure the foundation appreciates her generosity, as does her father. Hope Mr Vincent enjoyed his 70th birthday this year!
