Sometimes, we lose people before we are ready to. Often they’re the bright spark in our lives, or hold a candle in our hearts. However, when they do go, all we have left are memories.
YouTuber Chan Phei Yong (陈培永) has always been supported by a great crew in his climb to be an influencer. However, yesterday (10th February), he received sorrowful news. The chief photographer, Jia Hui (甲辉) aka Gap Fai, of his studio, CMaker Studio, had passed away.
CMaker Studio was founded by Phei Yong and his sister Casey Chan (陈金钏). As such, Phei Yong has always worked closely with his chief photographer. They’ve had many memorable times together and Phei Yong cherished each and every one. Yesterday, he shared a few to honour Gap Fai’s passing.
Some were stories of the shoots they shared. Others were about his things, like his favourite pair of shoes. “I knew you didn’t like spending money, (so) I gave you mine, but you didn’t often use it,” Phei Yong recalled. “You were waiting for the right time.” The YouTuber also touched on Gap Fei’s last days, as shared by his father. “Your father told me yesterday that in the last few days you had left, you were watching my videos, smiling as you watched,” he wrote.
He finally thanked Gap Fai for coming into his life, and promised to create more works with his spirit. “Always be happy wherever you go, chief photographer forever,” Phei Yong said, as a final goodbye.

Gap Fai reportedly suffered from nasopharyngeal cancer since 2019. He spent two years doing chemotherapy and radiotherapy in an effort to combat the illness. Unfortunately, the cancer cells had spread to the bones and he passed at the age of 31.
His funeral will take place on the 11th and 12th of February. Our hearts go out to his family and friends and may they find peace in his passing.
