Uncle Kentang (Kuan Chee Heng) has been a huge help to many. Even now as he is recovering from Covid, Mr. Kuan has not halted his work. However, although he has shared about many who need help, we rarely hear from those who have been helped.
Mr. Kuan’s recent brush with Covid was unfortunate. Yet, it did allow him to meet someone he had helped once before!

The news of him contracting Covid left many concerned for his health. Currently, Mr. Kuan is taking some time to recover as he has not fully recovered. However, amidst his updates, Mr. Kuan shared a heart-warming story involving a little boy from 15 years ago.
According to Mr. Kuan, he had met that little boy in Subang Jaya. At the time, he was being bullied however, he was keeping quiet about it. Mr. Kuan took steps to protect the little boy. Yet, that timid child has grown a lot since then. In fact, Mr. Kuan was pleasantly surprised to discover he is now a pulmonologist and a Covid researcher!
Mr. Kuan shared that he had met the young man for a check-up on his lungs. The now-doctor explained that he had graduated from a UK University and was now practising in a Singapore hospital. “He checked X-rays of my lungs, gave me a thumbs up and told me not to worry too much,” Mr. Kuan stated. He certainly didn’t expect to meet someone he had formerly helped, but the meeting was one he cherished. “Thank you, Dr. Chong,” he finished solemnly.

As Aesop once said, “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” Mr. Kuan’s drive to look out for people who need help is always admirable. Yet, it’s encouraging to know how his acts of kindness have left long-lasting impressions on others.
