Everyone is looking forward to Chinese New Year, which will be taking place on 1st February. Aside from the food, lion dances and general festivities, one of the best things about CNY would be the songs.
We have a wide variety of different tunes for CNY. However, there’s always room for more! Our local YouTubers and influencers have hopped on board the CNY tune train to bring their own work to the table. Each has its own unique touch, sound and visuals.
Here are a few songs done by our very own local internet celebs!
1. The Lucky People (好運的人啊)

YouTubers Chang Yong (常勇), Wen Shu Sen (舒森), Chan Phei Yong (陈培永), Danny (丹尼), and Chang Le (常樂) are well-known on the local scene. Although each of them run their own channel, the five of them have collaborated to deliver a banger of a song. With a well-shot music video filled with funny scenes, the quintet will treat their viewers to a blast from the past and show what a lucky Chinese New Year is like!
2. Tiger Tiger Happy (虎虎欢喜)

The Pong siblings, Jeii (庞琂予, Pang Yan Yu) and Gaston (庞加斯顿) reunited this CNY to release a new song. The song was composed and produced by Gaston while Jeii handled the vocals and producing the music video. The song and music video certainly embodies the “tiger spirit” while maintaining a Mando-pop style tune.
3. Year Of The Tiger (虎年新年到)

Another sibling group rose to the challenge and delivered a familial-based song. This time, the Kuan sibs involved their parents too! Malaysian blogger Ms Kuan (Christinna), DJ Perry Kuan and singer Jestinna Kuan certainly made their MV one for the books. With its catchy tune and lyrics, it’s one of those CNY songs that you can play on repeat without becoming tiring of it.
4. HU ELSE

So, maybe you’re tired of the usual CNY tunes. If you want something a little more out there, we suggest checking out ThreeProduction (3P)’s CNY song. In addition to a very snappy rap done CNY style, their MV is filled with plenty of entrancing dance moves. (Think K-pop music vid, but… for CNY). Not a surprise as the 3P members, Kevin Ong, Danny Lee and Caven Tang are all professional dancers!
5. Hari Hari Mau

YouTuber and influencer Charles Tee (拿督赛) isn’t one to miss out on things. He has released his own CNY song featuring ThreeProductions (3P) and Klou (K佬, Lay Kar Heng). The title is a clever play on words, acknowledging the year of the tiger with “harimau” while claiming they wish CNY would go on longer, “hari hari mau (wish for it every day)”. It’s catchy, also full of rap, and the kind of song you can karaoke to! Perfect to pop on during CNY for a sing along.
6. Dazzling Happy Year (炫炫HAPPY YEAR)

Hanxiiaoaii or Michell Lim Huei Sun (韓曉噯) formed a musical trio with influencers Bell (王玲惠) and Julene (许靖瑜). They performed a refreshing CNY song, with plenty of sweet smiles and cute moves. Best played for an easy-going mood for a fun, festive, chill time at your home!
For Apple users, Apple Music has curated some CNY playlists to boost and provide that festive atmosphere. These playlists have been specially handpicked by popular artists like Gentle Bones, Jackson Wang, Lala Hsu, Vanness Wu, and Leon Lai. If you prefer the old classic C-Pop songs however, there’s nothing wrong with that. This time, you can experience it with their latest Spatial Audio playlist which will allow you to fully feel the music.
Hopefully, these tunes will soon join the ranks of CNY songs. After all, we should celebrate our own local musical talent too, right?
