Christmas is made synonymous with snow by the Western media. The thing is, we don’t have snow in Malaysia. But, that doesn’t make Christmas any less festive here. Although, when we were kids, we did wish Malaysia would snow so we could build a snowman.
If you still haven’t moved on from wanting to play in the snow, or if you’ve got the travel bug wanting to visit four-seasoned countries, we’ve got you covered. Or should we say, Resorts World Genting has got you covered? In snow, that is!
Genting Highlands has always been one of the most idealistic recreational spots for those who live in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor or nearby areas. It’s a place where we can enjoy screaming our lungs out on top of a rollercoaster without having to be drenched in sweat or squint our eyes from the scorching hot sun. It’s also a really great place for us to just hang out at the cafes or just go sightseeing. Usually no snow, but good enough to get away from the weather.
Although, a TikTok video from Fadhilah Zulkefli (@pedzulkefli) has been the talk of the town for these past few days. Is it true Malaysia is finally snowing? The TikTok video from Fadhilah was of her in Central Park Genting Highlands, being packed with crowds. However, what has really caught netizens’ attention was the white “flakes” that fell on top of her head!
The “snow” might not be falling every hour of the day and is fake, but it sure does get us super stoked! The original creator of the video clarified that the “snow” is actually just bubble foam, and it only falls for 10 minutes every 2 hours. It is also stated that the “snow” won’t fall if it rains.

There’s no entrance fee to Resorts World Genting’s Winter Wonderland, but it only starts from 4pm until midnight. And this will last ’til the 2nd of January 2022. So, guess we have less than a month to cure our travel bug and pay a visit to that one part of Malaysia that snows!
However, we do advise you to always keep your distance, keep good hygiene, and follow the given standard operating procedure if you decide to pay them a visit. Are you getting FOMO from the TikTok video? Because we sure are!
