Local actress Sharifah Amani recently came up with a scathing message on her Twitter in response to the shocking news of Datuk Hans Isaac’s retirement from the entertainment industry.
Early this week, the latter dropped a huge bomb when he announced that he had chosen to quit the show business. According to the veteran star himself, he doesn’t see his future as an actor, producer or director.
“I have no more passion in that (acting and producing motion pictures). Our industry is monopolised by a certain group of people. I no longer see the future here. It’s that easy. So, I have quit. I have chosen another path, which is as an entrepreneur,” the ex-FINAS chairman said, as reported by The Star.
Additionally, Hans revealed that only a small number of people in the industry can afford to live a comfortable life following their retirement. The 50-year-old heartthrob said, “Most industries have plans and guarantees when its players retire at a certain age.”
“However, in the creative industry, that is not the case,” Hans added. “Out of 1,000 people, perhaps only 50 can enjoy the benefits. The rest will continue to struggle throughout their lives. Therefore, there is no point in pursuing something that does not promise a stable life, especially after we retire.”
In a lengthy post on his Instagram, the “Ringgit Kasorrga” actor also stated that he no longer has interest in the entertainment industry. “Acting was never really my passion, but I learned to love and enjoy the process and was lucky to be able to work with the best in the industry.”
“I will continue to support the industry as always. There is the cinema side of things, management and perhaps even go on stage with Datuk Awie and Afdlin (Shauki) from time to time for a good laugh and some fun,” he further revealed in his posting.
Not long after the news came to light, Sharifah Amani took to her Twitter to share her honest reaction. “Malaysia can say farewell to quality films with strong, relevant messages, because all we are going to be left with is stilted acting from influencers-turned-actors with 1 million followers on Instagram but no talent,” the award-winning actress tweeted, as per Murai.
