Malaysia’s public transport might not be the best in the world compared to other countries, but it sure is one of the most helpful for Malaysians to get by cheaply and easily. We sure are ultimately grateful for the public transport system here in Malaysia.
The public transport system that we have is shared by everyone. So, one of the most common courtesy when using one is, keeping it clean so that the everyone is comfortable riding it. There are even posters being put up reminding people to not eat, drink nor smoke in public transport. However, this one lady just can’t seem to be bothered by the reminders put up.
Earlier last night (1st December 2021), Rapid KL posted up a video on their official Facebook page of an elderly woman (her face censored, of course) washing her hands in the train with a bottled water. In the video, she took out a bottle of water from her bag and proceeds to wash her hands nonchalantly.
The water she used was flowing everywhere on the train floor. She even sprinkled the extra water from the bottle cap, and got it everywhere; even on the lady who sat next to her! Yuck!
The video posted by Rapid KL was captioned, “We have never upgraded our trains to be a place to wash hands. We hope this action is not imitated and we also hope that passengers are more responsible when using the train. Don’t forget to always have your masks on properly when using public transportation.” And they hashtagged the post with a #tegursebabsayang.
We have to admit that it was absolutely irresponsible of the woman to be washing her hands in the train. Her disgusting action sure did make those around her feel uncomfortable. Well, at least we would be uncomfortable if it happened right next to us. Can’t imagine what the lady in red felt. We do hope that everyone is more responsible in keeping the cleanliness of our public transport and other passengers’ comfort.
We know the Ministry of Health keeps texting us to wash our hands often during the pandemic, but not this way!
