Starship Entertainment is set to debut its upcoming girl group, IVE (pronounced I’ve, 아이브), anytime soon. This marks the company’s first idol group since CRAVITY in April 2020, in addition to their first girl group in five years since Cosmic Girls (WJSN), who made their debut back in February 2016.
Interestingly, the official lineup of members for IVE also includes a couple of familiar faces from the popular group IZ*ONE! According to reports, the girls will be making their debut at the end of 2021. With their debut coming around the corner, this left us wondering; Will they be as big as their senior group SISTAR and also WJSN? Only time will tell. 😉
Without further ado, let’s meet the members of IVE:
1. Yujin (유진)
- Real name: Ahn Yujin
- Birthday: 1st September 2003 (Age 18)
- Position: Leader, Lead vocalist
- She’s a former member of IZ*ONE (ranked fifth in “Produce 48”).
- She was the first member to be introduced.
- Currently an MC for the music programme “Inkigayo”, alongside NCT’s Sungchan and Treasure’s Jihoon.
2. Gaeul (가을)
- Real name: Kim Gaeul
- Birthday: 24th September 2002 (Age 19)
- Position: Rapper
- She has been training for around three to four years.
- Her name literally means “autumn” in Korean.
3. Wonyoung (원영)
- Real name: Jang Wonyoung
- Birthday: 31st August 2004 (Age 17)
- Position: Vocalist
- Similar to Yujin, Wonyoung was also a member of Korean-Japanese group IZ*ONE (she won first place in “Produce 48”).
- Arguably one of the most popular members of the group, she has been an endorsement model for brands such as Dior, Miu Miu, Laura Mercier, Kirsh, just to name a few.
- She is the current host for “Music Bank”, paired with Sunghoon from Big Hit’s new boy group Enhypen.
4. Liz (리즈)
- Real name: Kim Jiwon
- Birthday: 21st November 2004 (Age 17)
- Position: Main vocalist
- She appeared in Taeyeon’s “This Christmas” music video.
- Fans think she looks like Minnie from (G)I-DLE and also Yoon from the rookie girl group STAYC.
5. Rei (레이)
- Birthday: 3rd February 2004 (Age 17)
- Position: Rapper, Vocalist
- She was born and raised in Nagoya, Aichi, Japan.
- Fans point out that she resembles the actress Nishino Nanase and alsoSHINee member Minho.
- It is said that she had never had her hair cut until she was announced to debut.
6. Leeseo (이서)
- Full name: Lee Hyun Seo
- Birthday: 21st February 2007 (Age 14)
- Position: Vocalist, Maknae (Youngest member)
- She used to be a model for SM kids.
- She was the sixth and final member of IVE to be revealed to the public.
