Azizulhasni Awang On Meeting Johor Prince TMJ & Siti Nurhaliza

National track cycling champion, Datuk Azizulhasni Awang was personally awarded the prize by the Crown Prince of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim on Tuesday (7th September) following his monumental achievement at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

The official Facebook page HRH Crown Prince of Johor yesterday updated that Tunku Ismail or TMJ agreed to receive in audience the professional track cyclist who showed an excellent performance at the Tokyo Olympics recently. The meeting was held at the Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) FC Headquarters as Tunku Ismail presented the reward to Azizulhasni for his success.

“HRH Major General Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Crown Prince of Johor received in audience professional track cyclist and Olympic silver medalist Dato’ Muhammad Azizulhasni Awang today, 7th September 2021 at the Johor Darul Ta’zim FC Headquarters to present a reward for his heroics at the 2020 Olympics. Allah Bless The Sultan,” the Facebook caption read.

Datuk Azizulhasni has taken to his Facebook page to express his gratitude for the Crown Prince’s invitation which gave him the opportunity to share his experiences and present ideas for the development of the cycling sport in Johor. “I am so touched and it felt like a dream to be able to meet with Tunku and share my experience and success at the recent Tokyo Olympics. I am grateful for Tunku’s willingness to listen to my ideas and views in developing our national sports, especially cycling in Johor,” he wrote. 

The Pocket Rocketman also expressed his thanks for the personal gift from Tunku Ismail. He remarked, “Last but not least, I really appreciate Tunku’s personal gift to me. I will remember this moment forever. May Allah reward and bless Tunku and your entire kingdom. Daulat Tunku.”

In related news, the silver medalist of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games also received an invitation and had the opportunity to meet the nation’s number one songstress, Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza and her husband, Datuk Seri Khalid at their residence earlier this week. During the visit, Azizulhasni had the opportunity to taste Siti Nurhaliza’s homemade cuisine as well as see the couple’s bicycle collections.

He admitted that he was surprised to discover that the couple’s interest in the sport after seeing their bike collections in the residence’s gallery. “For those who don’t know, Dato’ K and Dato’ Siti are die-hard fans of cycling. They are both very active and they even participated in cycling events,” he shared in an Instagram post.

He added, “I was amazed to see their bike collections. I was really fascinated by the collection of antique bikes that are really hard to come by. I looked at each one in detail and it was as if a Mozart melody accompanied me. I am amazed.”

Upon his return to Malaysia from Tokyo, the Terengganu-born athlete not only managed to return home to meet his family, he also had the opportunity to meet with several other important individuals including the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and the Minister of Youth and Sports, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu to jointly celebrate his success in winning the silver medal in Tokyo.
