Following the semi-finals of Miss Hong Kong 2021 (2021香港小姐競選) over the weekend, many are looking forward on who will walk away with the crown when the finale airs live on 12th September.
Unfortunately, Angel Yu (余曉蕙), Michelle Cheung (張嘉倩), Fiona Dai (戴佳敏), and Anna Wang (王嫿嫿) did not make it pass the 2nd round after 20 hopefuls got to showcase their talent performances, swimwear and evening wear appearances.
The 12 finalists who advanced are:
- Carina Leung (梁凱晴)
- Yvette Chan (陳聖瑜)
- Rachel Chan (陳懿德)
- Sabina Mendes (宋宛穎)
- Penny Yeung (楊培琳)
- Fabienne Kwan (關楓馨)
- Michelle Ip (葉靖儀)
- Cathy Wong (王嘉慧)
- Kristy Shaw (邵初)
- Vincy Mok (莫韻諰)
- Jasmine Schneider (施茉莉)
- Katerina Leung (梁菁琳)
During her piano number for the talent segment, Fabienne Kwan got her famous father Eddie Kwan (關禮傑) to join her onstage, which no doubt, elevated the performance. When asked if he was helping his daughter rally votes, the TVB actor replied, “If I was that popular then I would’ve won Best Actor and not Vincent Wong. She is depending on herself, which is good.”
When asked if he has notice any changes in Fabienne, the 59-year-old star replied, “Yes, for example, she has higher expectations for herself and has learned how to adapt during the (pageant) staycation. At first, I thought my heart would ache seeing her experiencing challenges, but I eventually realised that this needs to happen so she could grow.”
Being the supportive father, Eddie added, “I would just tell her that ‘You got to do well yourself, because if you don’t, then your punishment is doubled!’ As she always does her best, there isn’t too much to worry about.” Although Fabienne isn’t a frontrunner at this point, daddy Kwan is still hopeful.
Speaking of frontrunners, many critics are betting their money on either Yvette Chan or Carina Leung. Yvette was able to wow judges and audiences during the belly dancing performance. Turns out, both Yvette and Carina have been helping each other out in the competition. “We are on the same team so we practice together,” said Yvette.
